- The Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame-des-Anges, rebuilt (except for the choir) in the mid-17th century, is a major example of Baroque architecture in the south of France.

Take a stroll through the narrow streets of the old village, abandoned at the beginning of the 20th century, to the highest point of the fortress, where you'll find an intact arcade overlooking the void, the "antipope's postern". Legend has it that in the 15th century, Pedro de Luna, alias Pope Benedict XIII, managed to escape from the Papal Palace in Avignon and "flew" through this opening to Peñiscola in Aragon, where he lived out his days, legitimised as Pope of France.
